Fonts

This is a fairly simple display - easy to create and put up for the start of term to cover one of those horrible empty display boards!  I just typed in the names of some common fonts in the corresponding font (I hope that makes sense?!?) This is a good start of term display, until the children have done some work to put on display.  It is also useful for ICT suites.  I have done a similar thing in the past using the font size becuase I often don' t think the children can visualise the sizes they use on the computer when work has been printed.

Data Handling

Create databases, interrogate and report findings.

Control - suitable for Y6

This display served as a constant reminder of the key elements of control.  At the time it was on display, pupils in Years 8 and 9 were working with Flowol to control mimics, and Years 10 and 11 were covering the more theoretical aspects of control for GCSE.

Data Handling

Printouts of various activities undertaken when exploring pre-prepared datafiles as well as the results of a school wide survey of computer ownership and internet use.

Control / Logo

Y6 (Blue) After exploring nested repeat loops, the children created their own patterns by rotating and redrawing regular shapes,before exporting them to a paint program for colouring. The images were then pasted into Word, along with the commands used to create the original pattern.

Y2 (Orange) Children using a Roamer on table tops and floor mats in their classroom, trying to enter a sequence of commands to move it to an agreed target.

Y4 (Yellow) Print outs of drawings produced by logo procedures, along with a copy of the commands used.

Using the Internet for research

This display was created as a general reminder of key techniques when using the Internet for research.  At the time it was on display, pupils in Years 6, 7, 10 and 11 were all working on units which involved using the Internet as a source of information.
